Welcome to our latest edition of our Update and a special hello to new friends and customers we met at The Allergy Show at London's Olympia last weekend. Despite the Tube strike and other difficulties the Show was very well-attended and the seminars once again proved a valuable forum for listening and learning about the best ways of coping with allergy and gluten problems.
This month we have special offers on cool summer bedding and travel necessities, a look at the latest allergy news and opportunities to take part in clinical trials.

JELLYFISH ALERT. The arrival of shoals of
Portuguese Man o'War stinging jellyfish in the Mediterranean is
becoming an annual event and this week's newspaper reports recommend
vigilance when swimming in the waters around Spain and France. So we
highly recommend our Venom Extractor as a valuable addition to your
holiday first aid kit. Tested and found effective on snake bites,
bee stings and the bites of giant ants, tarantulas and scorpions, so
this is definitely something to go into the backpack of any Gap Year
traveller too. Click here for more information and to buy. |

COELIAC VACCINE
TRIAL. Our March edition of Update' brought exciting news
of research that identified the toxic elements of gluten, creating
potential for the development of a desensitising vaccine for coeliac
disease. Phase One trials, led by gastroenterologist and researcher
Dr Bob Anderson, began in Melbourne, Australia in April, with forty
people taking increasing doses of the vaccine. Once the drug is
determined to be safe, Phase 2 will begin, to discover if people
with coeliac disease will be able to eat gluten following
vaccination. If you have biopsy-proven coeliac disease, are
following a gluten-free diet and would like to participate in the
coeliac vaccine study in Melbourne please contact The Centre for
Clinical Studies at 1800 243 733 or e-mail contactus@nucleusnetwork.co.au. |
