February 2011

Hello again! Here´s our February edition of ‘Update’, with news and offers for AllergyBestBuys customers and friends. .

Humidify when indoor air is dry

In the winter months when central heating is on all day, gas or electric fires are in use and windows and doors are firmly closed, the air inside the home can become uncomfortably dry, particularly for those with asthma and eczema.

You can find relief by adding moisture to the air with a humidifier, but the trick is to find the right balance so that in relieving symptoms you are not promoting a level of humidity (55%+) that encourages dustmites and mould that trigger allergy symptoms.

Using a simple evaporative radiator humidifier together with a humidity measure is one inexpensive and effective option.

Our new award-winning Radiator Humidifier is easy to use and works a treat. Just place the unit on top of your central heating radiator, fill the reservoir with ordinary tap water and moisture is quickly and simply added to the air through evaporation.

Radiator Humidifier

You can check the relative humidity (RH) of your room with our Humidity Measure to make sure it doesn´t get beyond 55%.

Humidity Measure

An alternative is to invest in a dehumidifier with a built-in humidity control that will allow you to monitor the RH of your room and keep it at a comfortable but safe level.

Air Purifier with built-in Humidifier

The new Sharp Plasmacluster Ion Technology Air Purifier not only clears the indoor air of floating allergens - dustmite, pet and pollen - with staggering efficiency, it also has an optional built-in humidifier that prevents the indoor air becoming too dry, helping to preserve the skin´s natural moisture, relieving airways and eliminating the static that keeps allergens airborne.

HAYFEVER REMINDER
Homeopathic Hayfever Desensitisation Kit

It may seem a bit early to be thinking about hayfever, as most sufferers are affected by grass pollens in the summer. But tree pollens, which reach their peak in February, may also be causing problems and from this month on pollens from shrubs, grass and weeds will be floating about until October. So anyone who suffers the miseries of hayfever should start a course of desensitizing hayfever drops now.

Sarah-Jane Moore of London is one of many AllergyBestBuys customers to sing the praises of our Homeopathic Hayfever Desensitisation Kit. She writes:

“Every year my son´s hayfever spoilt his summers and started to affect his schoolwork. His eyes would be swollen and red with huge purple rings round them. He could barely breathe and hardly slept. The year he was 12 I knew I had to do something before the following year´s important exams. I read about immunotherapy and decided to give the hayfever drops a go. We started the course in March and the first week required quite a lot of commitment, but after that we got into a daily routine and just got on with it. By June, when Jonas came to sit his exams, I would say he was about 60% better.

We started the second year of the course at half term the following February (2010) and I would say that by the time he broke up for the summer holidays in July he was 90% cured. I´m going to do it again this year (2011) as a sort of belts-and-braces exercise to make sure he is completely 100% desensitised. The results are definitely worth the effort. The Homeopathic Hayfever Drops have worked.”

If you began our 2-year desensitisation programme last year you should have enough Synergist for this year´s course, but you may need to stock up with more pollens. Click here to order now or for more information.
